SONY XM5 - 3D BREAKDOWN

Contest Application [1st place] / Spec Commercial

As part of a collaboration between University of Applied Sciences, Campus Hamburg (@ue.germany) and Sony Germany (@sony.deutschland) I was given the opportunity to compete in a commercial clip contest and was awarded with the first place.

3D animations were created using Cinema 4D with render engine Redshift.

All animations were rendered in 4k 32bit to achieve the most photorealistic look.

I downloaded the base Sony XM5 headphones model from CGMood (https://cgmood.com), uploaded by Nguyen Hoc Tu and created various 3D scenes with carefully arranged lighting to showcase them in a creative way that adapts with the video concept I came up with. I changed the headphone cushions to a leather material, especially for the close-up scenes to achieve a more realistic and similar look of the original headphone’s texture. Also, I edited the colors and applied a “Collision” Effect to create a bulge once the marble touches the cushion surface.

Compositing was done in Adobe After Effects. I adjusted small exposure/temperature values, added glow, typography and occasionally added slight panning to enhance the movement, aligning it with the movement of the film set camera. The vision was to create a flowy and mysterious, yet liberating feeling.
